Sit back and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of North Wales as we embark on scenic train journeys through this stunning region.
Local departure by coach, then on to our hotel in Llandudno for seven nights.
Take a scenic ride on the Bala Lake Railway, offering stunning views of Llyn Tegid, the surrounding countryside, and the majestic Arenig Fawr, Aran Benllyn, and Aran Fawddwy mountains. Keep an eye out for herons and buzzards nesting near the tracks, showcasing the harmony between nature and railway.
Today, we head into Snowdonia, visiting the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, nestled in the heart of the National Park. Explore independent shops, sample local produce, or relax with a cup of tea and a slice of Bara Brith in one of the charming cafés.
Next, we continue to the scenic Llanberis, located at the foot of Mount Snowdon. Here, we board the charming Llanberis Lake Railway for a five-mile return journey alongside Lake Padarn, passing Dolbadarn Castle and Llanberis’ twin lakes.
Enjoy a relaxing day in seaside Llandudno at your leisure, or join our optional excursion to Anglesey. We’ll cross the Menai Strait and visit Llanfair PG, home to the longest place name in the UK—don’t forget to snap a photo with the famous railway sign!
Optional Anglesey / Llanfair PG excursion (£11pp)
Spend a day exploring Llandudno at your own pace. This charming Victorian seaside town on the North Wales coast offers plenty to discover—take a leisurely walk along the flat seafront, enjoy the classic amusements on the pier, or ride the funicular railway or cable cars up the Great Orme for stunning panoramic views of the town and surrounding area.
Embark on a scenic journey aboard the Ffestiniog Railway, winding through the stunning, forested landscapes and mountainous terrain of Snowdonia. Established in 1832, the Ffestiniog Railway is the world’s oldest independent railway company. The historic route ascends over 700 feet, offering views of serene pastures, dramatic waterfalls, tranquil lakes, and picturesque horseshoe bends, including one that nearly forms a full spiral.
Our trip also includes a visit to Caernarfon, home to Wales’ iconic and imposing castle, charming historic streets, and a beautifully revamped waterfront.
Embark on a scenic journey through the picturesque Horseshoe Pass to reach the charming town of Llangollen, nestled in the stunning Dee Valley beneath the historic Dinas Bran Castle.
Once there, we’ll board a traditional horse-drawn barge for a relaxing cruise along the Llangollen Canal. This serene voyage, enjoyed by visitors for over a century, takes us through part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering glimpses of rich local flora and fauna along the way.
Return home.
