Neuschwanstein Castle and Fussen

Join us on our included excursion to Germany’s Bavarian town of Füssen.

Along the way, we stop at Hohenschwangau, home to the stunning Hohenschwangau Castle (entrance fee not included), before visiting the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. Built by Mad King Ludwig, this fairy tale castle inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty’s Palace and appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Entrance to Neuschwanstein Castle is included.

Later, enjoy free time in Füssen, a picturesque town at the edge of the Alps, before returning to our hotel this afternoon.

Innsbruck

Our excursion takes us to Innsbruck, the vibrant capital of the Tyrol. Nestled along the River Inn at the base of the Karwendel Alps, it’s Austria’s fifth-largest city. Explore the charming old quarter, home to the iconic Golden Roof and arcaded streets, or wander along Maria Theresien Strasse with its lively shops.

For spectacular views, consider climbing the City Tower or taking the Hungerburgbahn funicular (at own cost) to escape the city’s bustle. Don’t miss a visit to the Swarovski Crystal shop for a touch of sparkle!

Day of Leisure, or Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau

Spend the day at leisure or join our optional excursion to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau.

Once separate towns, Garmisch and Partenkirchen were merged in 1935 by order of Adolf Hitler to host the 1936 Winter Olympics. Today, they retain distinct identities—Garmisch offers a more modern vibe, while Partenkirchen enchants visitors with its fresco-adorned, cobblestoned streets steeped in history.

Later, we continue to Oberammergau, a charming Bavarian village renowned for its once-a-decade Passion Play. Take in the beautifully painted houses before we return to Reutte.
