Local departure by coach, then to the Paris area for an overnight stay.

In the morning, we enjoy breakfast and then continue our journey through France to Roses, where we will stay for the next six nights.

Coastal Cruise and Cadaques

This morning, join us for an included boat cruise to Cadaqués. This one-hour trip will showcase the dramatic cliffs and caves along the coast. We’ll dock at Cadaqués, a picturesque fishing village once frequented by artists like Picasso, Matisse, and Salvador Dalí. This charming, whitewashed town still holds its allure, set beautifully at the edge of the Cap de Creus Peninsula where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean.

Upon arrival, our guide will lead us on a short walking tour, followed by some free time to wander the quaint, cobbled streets at your own pace.

We’ll then board the boat again to head back to Roses, arriving just in time for lunch. The rest of your afternoon is free to discover more of Roses.

Beziers and Canal Du Midi Boat Trip

Today, we cross into France to visit Béziers, where we’ll experience a memorable journey along the Canal du Midi. This marvel of engineering connects the Mediterranean to the Atlantic through an intricate system of waterways.

You’ll witness the renowned ‘staircase’ locks at Fonseranes, the historic 17th-century Malpas tunnel, among other highlights along this 150-mile canal. Known for its serene beauty, the canal has become a beloved destination.

Our four-hour cruise includes a traditional French lunch, complete with wine and coffee. Sit back and soak in the sights of medieval bridges, charming villages, and the picturesque French countryside.

Empuriabrava Cruise and Besalu

Embark on our guided tour to explore the canals of Empuriabrava, a unique area designed in the Venetian style, where canals weave through the town, creating a paradise for boating fans.

Following this, we’ll head to Besalú in the volcanic region of La Garrotxa for an afternoon visit. Wander through the ancient streets of this beautifully preserved medieval town, admiring its churches, stone architecture, and charming houses along narrow cobbled lanes. Don’t miss the iconic 12th-century fortified bridges!

Barcelona and Harbour Cruise

Today, we journey to Barcelona, Spain’s second-largest city and a major Mediterranean port, known for its laid-back vibe, especially along Las Ramblas, where locals enjoy a leisurely stroll under tree-lined avenues. This city is steeped in history, folklore, and tradition, and is famous for its unique architecture, particularly the works of Gaudí.

We’ve included a short boat trip along the Barcelona coastline, passing by the harbour and the Olympic Port, offering a fresh perspective of the city.

Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore Barcelona’s key attractions. Las Ramblas stretches from Plaza de Catalunya down to the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell, where you can immerse yourself in the street life, visit shops and cafés, and watch street performers. This area is perfectly positioned for you to delve into the Barri Gòtic, or Gothic Quarter, at the heart of the Old Town. Here, buildings from medieval and Roman times create a historical tapestry waiting to be explored.

Time to bid a fond farewell to Roses today as we make our way to our overnight hotel in France.
