Explore the charming seaside towns of Normandy on this short break. Visit the glamorous Deauville, known for its casinos and yachts, and Trouville, with its scenic beach and quaint fishing port. Discover the sights that inspired Monet, including the picturesque town of Honfleur. You can also enjoy an optional visit to the fortified town of Saint-Malo, where you can stroll along the city walls and wander the cobbled streets of the old town. Continue to the enchanting Dinan, famous for its half-timbered medieval buildings. The highlight of the trip is Mont Saint-Michel, a stunning tidal island with a gravity-defying Abbey, making it one of France’s most breathtaking locations.
Local departure by coach, then to the outskirts of Caen for a four-night stay.
Today’s included excursion takes us to the charming seaside resorts of Deauville and Trouville, both popular with Parisians, artists, and writers. Deauville is renowned for its glamour, featuring a wide sandy beach, upscale shopping, a chic casino, luxurious hotels, and a marina.
Trouville is known for its long beach, historic boardwalk, elegant villas, and bustling fishing port. Here, you can visit the Musée Villa Montebello’s fine art collection and admire murals by Parisian poster artist Raymond Savignac.
We then head to the picturesque port town of Honfleur, with its historic houses around the Vieux Port and the stunning Saint Catherine’s Church, made entirely of wood by local shipbuilders. Honfleur’s beauty has inspired many artists, including Claude Monet.
Today, we visit Mont Saint-Michel, an awe-inspiring architectural gem perched on a rocky island surrounded by the sea at high tide. Explore the charming cobbled streets leading to the abbey, stroll along the ramparts, browse the local shops, or unwind in a cosy café or bar.
Enjoy a free day or join our optional excursion to the fortified town of Saint-Malo, famous for its impressive ramparts and city walls that you can walk along. Wander through the old town’s maze of narrow cobbled streets, and perhaps sample a delicious crêpe. We also visit the charming medieval town of Dinan, often called one of the most picturesque small towns in Brittany. Admire the half-timbered houses around Place des Merciers, or climb the 40-metre Tour de l’Horloge for stunning views. For a lovely view of the river Rance, take a scenic walk along the steep, cobbled Rue du Petit Fort to the old port.
